teacups and forest by the seaside

Finally a stormy day where I can stay in bed and not feel like I should be out appreciating the sweet summer heat. What a perfect time to share with you a few little projects and pictures from the last few weeks.

I have been trying to get into some more crafts to save myself from sanity in this little ghost town. Only working nights means keeping yourself occupied during the day is key. I have a few little projects on the go but one I wanted to share with you is making teacups candles purely because they are so darn cute and easy-
Simply crush up wax, melt in an old can while holding it in boiling water and then pour into a cute vintage tea cup and add some sweet smelling oils ( make sure you heat the teacups before adding the wax so it doesn't crack). When the wax starts to set add the wick into the middle. Done! For some reason I find candles burning to be immediately soothing. Next I want to try old glass jars by attaching wire handles so they can hang like sweet fairy lanterns.
sorry I don't have any pretty photos on me but you get the idea

I have also been looking into a little self teaching on how to sew your own bikini. I am so fussy when it comes to buying bikinis each summer and really don't understand how people can charge so much, so I'm quite excited to try this out, with all the beautiful heart melting fabrics out there I'm sure the options will be endless!

Lastly I wanted to share a few pictures with you. My beautiful long time friend Gina came to visit before she left for Japan last week and whilst showing her my extended nyc wardrobe we came across some pretty dresses that were worth taking pictures of...

Speaking of pretty clothing I've been having some lovely luck with finding pretty dresses, maxi skirts and cut offs at op shops since I got home. And even though I LOVE summer I'm getting pretty excited for the cooler months to come so I can start wearing booties and over sized cardis with these finds!
